The Zodiac is an unknown white male around 5’8″ to 6′ with a stocky or solid build. He had a round or slightly heavy face and wore horn-rimmed glasses. His hair was described as short, brown, and neatly combed. He was active in Northern california near the San Francisco bay area during 1968-1969. The Zodiac murdered five known victims and had two known surviving victims. Zodiac possibly killed 20-28 and claimed himself to have killed 37. He was infamous for mailing taunting letters to regional newspapers and threatened killing sprees and bombings. His motives were “collecting victims as slaves in the afterlife.” Some of his letters included cryptic messages (cryptograms and ciphers). Out of the 4 main codes, we have only solved two of them (one in 1969, and the other in 2020). The Zodiac did not have a specific killing method but in his known murders he used mainly guns and knives. He didn’t have a specific target audience but killed many young couples and was known to stalk them before their murders.

In the following blog posts, I will be presenting my opinion of who I think the Zodiac was: Arthur Leigh Allen. Each article will be split up into different pieces of evidence or alternative suspects and why I don’t believe it to be them. If this post and the following interest you, I highly recommend watching the new Netflix documentary This is the Zodiac Speaking as well as the 2007 movie Zodiac.
